    Mysore/Mysuru: Only a day after Mysuru Taluk Administration cleared encroachments on Mysuru-Ooty Highway (NH-766) to reclaim land price Rs. 25 crore, the Mysuru Improvement Authority (MDA) officers, early this morning, performed an encroachment clearance drive and reclaimed 7 acre-land price Rs. 140 crore at Vijayanagar third Stage.

    The land was earlier earmarked for a sports activities complicated, however had been encroached upon. The demolition drive was carried out following the directives from Deputy Commissioner (DC) G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, who can be the MDA Chairman.

    The operation started as early as 5.30 am, with MDA officers, together with 50 Police personnel hooked up to Vijayanagar and Jayalakshmipuram Police Stations, arriving on the spot with earth-movers and demolishing the unlawful buildings.

    After clearing the encroachments until 9.30 am, the MDA officers secured the land by fencing all the 7-acre land.

    Officers threatened

The squatters, he stated, let their cows and oxen out of their sheds, making it troublesome for the officers to enter the property.

    “MDA has determined to alter the aim for which the land was acquired, as sports activities complicated had no potential within the space. We are going to make sure that the change of function will probably be applied instantly to stop additional encroachments,” he added.

    The encroachment clearance drive witnessed tense moments as members of a household, who claimed to be the land homeowners, created excessive drama, opposing the drive.

    Involvement of a politician?

    MDA Secretary Ok. Johnson, Govt Engineers (EEs) Nagesh and Mahesh, Assistant Govt Engineer (AEE) Sunitha, Land Acquisition employees Sachin and others have been current.

    Vijayanagar Police Inspector S.D. Suresh Kumar offered Police safety in the course of the eviction drive.
