Kendrapada: In Odisha, Marine Merchandise Export Improvement Authority (MPEDA) has registered 62 seafood exporters and 45 export-oriented processing crops with a complete processing capability of 2318.12 metric tonnes per day (MTPA) and 50 chilly storages with a capability of 52,286 MT, mentioned minister of state for commerce and trade, Jitin Prasada in Rajya Sabha on Friday. Replying to a query of Subhasish Khuntia, the minister said that 9 beneficiaries from Odisha have been assisted with monetary assist of Rs 967.69 lakh throughout 2021-22 and 2025-26 for infrastructure improvement associated to seafood worth addition. Furthermore, MPEDA has undertaken intensive capacity-building and skill-development programmes to strengthen worth addition and hygiene practices. Odisha has a seafood park at Deras throughout 152 acres, the place 15 exporters have obtained plots. At current, no proposals have been acquired from the Odisha govt for establishing new seafood-focused processing parks, added the minister.
