    A number of medical, legislation and engineering college students of premier instructional institutes within the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are protesting in opposition to a proposal to transform the prevailing amenities right into a deemed-to-be college, expressing considerations over educational uncertainty, diploma recognition and doable monetary implications, officers stated on Wednesday.

    At the moment, Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM), Andaman Regulation Faculty, Andaman Faculty (ANCOL), Andaman and Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS), Dr BR Ambedkar Institute of Know-how (DBRAIT), Tagore Authorities Faculty of Training (TGCE) and Mahatma Gandhi Authorities Faculty (MGGC) are affiliated to Pondicherry College.

    College students are opposing the Centre’s plans to alter the affiliation to the proposed Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Institute of Larger Studying as a deemed-to-be college, as an alternative of the prevailing Pondicherry College.

    “For the previous couple of days, we have now been protesting in opposition to the transfer. We’re demanding that the administration withdraw the proposal and keep the prevailing affiliation as we worry that the transition may adversely have an effect on ongoing programs and examinations, result in a rise in charges, and influence the popularity of levels,” one of many protesting college students stated.

    Pupil representatives stated they’re in search of written assurances from the authorities that educational continuity can be protected and that no further monetary burden can be imposed.

    “We wish readability and transparency. Any resolution affecting hundreds of scholars ought to be taken solely after correct session,” a pupil chief stated.

    In the meantime, the Andaman administration has issued an announcement claiming that there can be no price hike and that efforts are on to make sure a clean educational transition.
