Stock Market Close: Bears grip D-St as Sensex cracks 1,236 points; Nifty ends at 25,454; VIX up 10%

Sell-off intensified due to low FII participation because of Lunar New Year holiday across key Asian markets and a non-settlement day on account of a regional banking holiday in India.

Stock Market LIVE Updates: Nifty 50 witnessed a muted-to-negative session, failing to sustain yesterday’s recovery momentum and gradually drifting lower throughout the day. The index opened on a steady note but faced persistent supply around the 25,900 zone, leading to a formation of lower highs and lower lows—indicating intraday distribution rather than accumulation. Technically, price action slipped below the short-term support band of 25,645–25,660, which coincided with the 20-day EMA. Once this support gave way, selling pressure accelerated modestly, dragging the index toward the 25,350–25,400 support region and breaching previous short-term demand levels.
