    King of Meat Shut Down

Hey, remember King of Meat? Maybe? Kind of? Well, it released for PS5 on the 7th October last year, and now it’s been removed for digital storefronts, ahead of being completely shut down in April.

This is an online-only co-op game published by Amazon Game Studios, where teams of up to four players can tackle community-made dungeons. Wacky traps and chaotic combat make up the action.

Unfortunately, the writing was on the wall with this one. Not long after launch, rather damning reports did the rounds, claiming that developer Glowmade Games had been left utterly underwhelmed by the title’s inability to attract a sizeable audience.

Its Steam numbers have been, in a word, dire, and so it’s no real surprise to see Amazon pull the plug.

Fortunately, if you did purchase King of Meat on PS5 — or any other platform — then you’re getting a full refund “in the coming weeks” from the relevant platform holder. That’s according to a statement posted on the title’s official website.

It reads: “Despite the creativity and innovation Glowmade brought to King of Meat, the game has unfortunately not found the audience we hoped for. As a result, we have made the difficult decision to conclude our investment in the game, and King of Meat’s servers will close on April 9, 2026.”

“Players will be able to access and play all existing content until then, so we encourage you to enjoy your remaining time in the game with your fellow Contenders.”

It’s more than fair to say that Amazon’s foray into game publishing and development has not gone well. One of its most ambitious projects, MMORPG New World, is being axed in January of next year.

A little too much, some might say.
