Depending on which news article I’ve just read, the FTSE 100 is going gangbusters or on the verge of crisis. From my point of view, the Jekyll and Hyde nature of London’s leading index brings about a few burning questions. Questions like: what’s going on with the FTSE 100? For years, I reckoned that Vodafone (LSE: VOD) was undervalued. Yet things often seemed to go from bad to worse for the share price, albeit there was a juicy dividend yield by way of compensation. Over the past year, though, the Vodafone share price has soared by 71%. That has brought the dividend yield down to 3.3% — still slightly above the FTSE 100 average. What has driven this share price turnaround – and could there still be more to come? Renewable power is growing rapidly worldwide. India accounted for about 5% of global renewable capacity in 2024 and ranked as the third-largest contributor after China and the US. India’s installed capacity is projected to rise from 475 GW (Giga Watt) in FY25 to 705 GW by FY30. India’s solar installation costs fell 60.6% and wind costs 20.4% (FY16–FY24), making renewables significantly cheaper than fossil fuels. Renewables’ contribution to generation is projected to increase from 14% in FY25 to 30% by FY30, while thermal power’s share declines to 58%, signalling structural decarbonisation of India’s grid.Key trends: Comments Published on February 24,…
