The fourth phase of the Genome Valley, a hub of pharma and life sciences here, will be expanded in over 100 acres, D Sridhar Babu, Telangana Minister for IT and Industries said.
The fourth phase of the Genome Valley will be developed with state of the art infrastructure facilities. This is a part of the Strategy to attract $25 billion investments in the life sciences industry by 2025 and expected to create five lakh new jobs, Sridhar Babu told newspersons at a press conference on the sidelines of BioAsia 2026 which began here on Tuesday.
Stating that the recently announced new Life Sciences Policy of the State Government would drive growth, Minister said “The target is to establish Telangana as one of the top three global life sciences clusters in the world. Hyderabad is being developed not only as a hub of production of drugs and vaccines but also research and development:’’
The advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) should be harnessed by the life sciences industry in drug discovery and innovation, the minister said. French healthcare company Opella, Rx Propellants and Trident AI had committed to investments in Hyderabad.
Skills
As part of the measures to ensure adequate supply to skilled professionals, a new life sciences university is also being established, the Minister said. It would offer advanced training in emerging fields such as AI-driven drug discovery, automation, among others, he added.
The Telangana School of Life Sciences and Young India Skills University would help create industry-ready workforce, Sridhar Babu said.
