Abigail Fisher re-joins Grant Thornton as chief people officer

Grant Thornton has appointed Abigail Fisher to the newly created role of chief people officer. She also joins the firm’s UK strategic leadership team, bringing more than 20 years of experience in strategic human resources and organisational transformation to the role.

Malcolm Gomersall, UK CEO at Grant Thornton, said, “Abigail’s appointment marks an important step in our journey to strengthen our culture and further enhance our people experience. Her experience and passion for people will help us build on what makes Grant Thornton a great place to work while modernising our operations to meet our clients’ evolving needs.”

Having started her career in professional services at Grant Thornton in 2010, a release from the firm says that Fisher’s appointment “reinforces Grant Thornton’s long standing commitment to inclusion and ambition to create a firm where everyone has the opportunity to progress and succeed”.

She brings 20 years of experience in strategic human resources and organisational transformation, gained both in the UK and across multiple diverse international markets. She joins from Eversheds Sutherland, where she spent the past 12 years in senior HR leadership roles, most recently as director.

Grant Thornton’s strategic leadership team acts as the firm’s day-to-day executive management body, guiding strategic direction and upholding the highest standards of quality. Reporting directly to the CEO, the rotating partner team is composed of seasoned professionals committed to driving the firm forward. As part of that team, Fisher will help shape a people experience that fuels the firm’s culture; ensuring the firm remains a destination where talented people go to grow, thrive and realise their potential.

Fisher concluded, “I’m thrilled to be returning to Grant Thornton, a firm that has always held a special place in my career. This is an exciting time of growth and transformation, and I look forward to working with our talented teams to create an inclusive, high-performance culture where everyone can thrive.”
