CBSE Board Exams 2026: Do’s and Don’ts for Students

Alright students, here’s the first golden rule straight from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Your board exams start at 10:30 am, but you must reach your examination centre by 10:00 am sharp. Does that sound obvious? It is, but believe me, even the best-planned individuals have faced nightmarish situations on the road. And this year, with many important events happening during this time, it is possible that roads could be blocked. So don’t take a chance. Plan your route, leave early, and if you can, even go to the centre once before. Remember, entry is strictly until 10:00 am — CBSE won’t allow latecomers.Think of it this way: arriving early gives you time to settle, organise your stationery, and mentally switch into exam mode. Rushing in at the last minute? That just adds chaos to your brain.Dress Smart, Stay ComfortableLet’s talk about what to wear because CBSE has been very clear. Regular students need to wear their school uniform, whereas private students can wear plain, light-colored clothing.Boys: Regular students need to wear their school uniform, whereas private students can wear a plain shirt or T-shirt with plain trousers. Girls: Regular students need to wear their school uniform, whereas private students can wear light clothing. Now, the strict part of the rules: No jewelry, no heavy shoes, no metal accessories, and no electronic devices. This means no mobile phone, no smartwatch, no other gadgets. It may seem very strict, but trust us, it is done to ensure smooth and efficient conduct of the examinations. So, keep it simple and comfortable. The more simple, the better. This is not about fashion; this is about focusing.Check Dates, Trust Official InformationCBSE has revised the dates of the examinations this year. The 10th standard examinations will conclude on 11th March 2026, whereas the 12th standard examinations will conclude on 10th April 2026.Planning according to the official timetable gives you confidence and prevents last-minute confusion. Guessing or assuming dates? That’s just unnecessary stress.Mindset Matters More Than Last-Minute CrammingHere’s the real deal: CBSE, along with schools and parents, advises students to stay calm and organised. Bring your admit card, necessary stationery, and a clear mind. Have a good sleep night before, take a healthy breakfast, and make the reading time productive.Start with the questions you know well first and then move on to the difficult ones.Don’t panic, don’t talk about answers with friends right outside the hall, and don’t compare next to others. Exams reward preparation, discipline, and calm thinking more than last-minute cramming.Think of board exams as a chance to show your hard work, not as a life-or-death ordeal. Follow CBSE’s rules, arrive on time, dress appropriately, stay organised, and breathe. You’ve got this!
