American poet Langston Hughes was born on February 1st, 1902.
One lesson that I’ve used for years with Intermediate English Language Learners is studying his poem, The Ballad of the Landlord as a part of our unit on Drawback-Resolution essays. After finding out the poem, college students write a letter to their very own landlord (although we clearly don’t ship it).
