WB Games Is Bringing Back Its 'Biggest Franchises' Starting Next Year 1

Warner Bros. has been going through a tumultuous time, and its gaming division has certainly been through the wringer as part of that.

You may recall that several studios and projects from WB Games were shut down last year. Monolith Productions, which was making Wonder Woman, was closed and the game cancelled, while MultiVersus studio Player First Games and WB Games San Diego were also shuttered.

It was all part of a restructuring of the business to focus in on its major franchises, namely Harry Potter, Mortal Kombat, DC, and Game of Thrones.

Well, it seems we’ll be seeing some of these brands coming back to the gaming sphere in the not-too-distant future.

Speaking to Variety, JB Perrette, who heads up games at Warner Bros., says the next couple of years will see it bounce back with some big titles.

“The real fruits will start coming in in ’27-’28 when we return to some of our biggest franchises,” he said, stopping short of saying what they are.

It’s not too difficult to guess, however; with HBO’s Harry Potter series on the way and Hogwarts Legacy having been a major hit, a sequel is a no-brainer.

Less clear is what’s coming next from Rocksteady Studios, which took a big swing with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League in 2024. Presumably, the team is working on something much safer now, and likely DC-related.

Perrette also highlights a couple of key games for this year with the highly anticipated LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, as well as a mobile game based on the Game of Thrones universe.

What do you hope to see from WB Games in the future? Tell us in the comments section below.
