Giant Dollhead Clues

Now, I can’t delve into my theories regarding The Mother without talking about the giant dollhead we meet in the Attic. This is one of the only clues we can gather in-game. From this conversation, I can surmise that The Mother is an entity which creates these dolls to be her children. But instead of providing them with love and care, she punishes them and uses the dolls as servants in the mansion.
At one point, the giant dollhead mentions that The Mother’s love turned to cruelty when she grew sick. We do not know what this is in reference to. Perhaps she was once a caring person? But now, she’s a horrifyingly tall, rotting creature.
These dolls have been in the mansion long enough to have thought about escaping. The giant dollhead says they ‘remember wanting that’, alluding to the fact that they may have resided in the mansion for a very long time indeed.
The conversation goes as follows:
“Please… don’t hurt me again. I’ll be quiet. I promise”
You then ask what this giant dollhead is.
“You don’t sound like Mother. She always sounds angry… who are you?”
You explain that you wish to escape.
“Escape… I remember wanting that. But I can’t. I was never meant to live, only to work. Mother built me to serve her in the mansion. When she grew sick, her love rotted into cruelty. We became her punishments”.
You reply, asking if this Mother the doll speaks of is the tall creature roaming the hallways of the mansion.
“Yes. She calls herself a parent, but monsters wear many names. When she punished me, she took my sight. I can still think. I can still feel fear. But I can’t see the world I’m trapped in. I can help you escape… if you help me see again”
The giant dollhead then details what it wishes you to do. With its loss of sight, it wants you to find the Giant Eyeball, which is inside the locked Tea Party Room, hidden within a tiered cake.
“My sisters whisper when mother isn’t listening. They spoke of her hiding a giant eye”
From that last line, the giant dollhead describes the other dolls as its sisters. Does this mean every doll we see throughout the mansion has a soul? That they can speak and feel fear? They listen to each other’s whispers, as long as The Mother isn’t in earshot.
She wanders the halls with a giant axe, but why? What turned her into this creature?
