An area man had a “beautiful jubbly” and “snug” send-off when he was taken to his funeral in a vivid yellow three-wheeler hearse.
Described as a “actual joker”, he made his closing journey to North Wiltshire Crematorium in a duplicate of the automotive pushed by Del Boy Trotter in BBC sitcom Solely Fools and Horses.
In a bid to recreate one of many sitcom’s most iconic scenes, undertakers have been changed by Batman and Robin operating alongside his coffin because the hearse wheeled into the Swindon crematorium.
Rebecca Hillier, from Hillier Funeral Service who organised the tribute, stated: “To have folks kind of smiling and remembering him as he approached the crematorium – on the saddest second – it was beautiful.”
She added though it was a “pretty distinctive” funeral, “issues are altering a lot”.
“We get requested lots: ‘what is the norm, what do folks often have?’ and I all the time say to households it isn’t what is the norm – it is what you need,” she stated.
“Gone are the times of the Victorian funerals the place all people was sombre and carrying black. We’re discovering now funerals have turn into an actual celebration of individuals’s lives.”
