Wrexham twice went ahead in what was a frenetic first half in north Wales as Kieffer Moore and Josh Windass both netted.
However, the class within Ipswich’s ranks shone through as they levelled on both occasions, firstly through Anis Mehmeti and then Ivan Azon.
When centre-back Cedric Kipre fired beyond Arthur Okonkwo within two minutes of the restart, the 1,288-strong contingent of Ipswich fans in the away end could have been forgiven for feeling they were on course for a 16th league win of the campaign.
But Wrexham had other ideas.
George Thomason – whose heart Parkinson described as “immense” – netted his first goal for the club to level the match.
Just 15 minutes after Callum Doyle was, according to Parkinson, fortunate not to be “knocked clean out” by goalkeeper Christian Walton, the defender scored his first home goal for the club since joining from Manchester City in the summer.
And the final word was left to Nathan Broadhead – the man who left Portman Road to re-join Wrexham for a club record fee last summer.
