DIbrugarh, Feb 18: In a massive show of organisational strength ahead of the upcoming elections, Bharatiya Janata Party National President Nitin Nabin on Wednesday addressed nearly 22,000 booth-level functionaries at a Pristha Pramukh Sanmilan held at Mancotta Field in Dibrugarh.
The event brought together booth workers from six Assembly constituencies in Dibrugarh district, underscoring the party’s renewed focus on grassroots mobilisation and last-mile voter outreach.
Nabin, who is on a two-day visit to Assam, called upon every booth chief to personally connect with at least 60 voters in their respective areas, signalling an intensified micro-level campaign strategy.
“Nation First, Party Next is the BJP’s guiding principle. We stand for zero corruption and decisive governance,” he told the gathering, drawing loud applause.
The high-profile event was attended by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister and Dibrugarh MP Sarbananda Sonowal, Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia, cabinet ministers, MLAs and senior party leaders.
Positioning the BJP’s campaign around development and cultural pride, Nabin stressed that Assam’s growth must go hand in hand with the preservation of its identity. Referring to landmarks and traditions such as Lachit Maidan, Bihu, Majuli and Kaziranga National Park, he said development should strengthen, not dilute, Assam’s heritage.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Sarma, Nabin highlighted infrastructure expansion, new airports, medical colleges, rural schemes, women empowerment initiatives and youth employment programmes as evidence of what he described as a “decade of transformation.”
He contrasted this with what he termed “policy paralysis” under previous Congress regimes.
The Sanmilan concluded with party leaders expressing confidence in securing a third consecutive term in Assam, and booth committees tasked with spearheading voter engagement at the grassroots level.
