    Rajkot: A serious rip-off has rocked the Juthal Seva Sahakari Mandali in Maliya Hatina taluka of Junagadh district, the place a former secretary of the cooperative society, Kanti Hingrajiya, accused of embezzling Rs 2.09 crore.The irregularities emerged throughout an inspection ordered by the district registrar. Hingrajiya, who served as secretary from Could 2009 to April 2024, is alleged to have carried out flagrant illegalities. The cooperative’s president, Kanaiyalal Kaneria, filed a police criticism detailing the embezzlement. The inspection discovered that mortgage repayments from farmer members had been by no means deposited within the cooperative’s checking account. Hingrajiya can also be accused of promoting the society’s inventory of fertilisers and agro-inputs with out accounting for the proceeds.Investigators found that unauthorized loans had been sanctioned, farmers got false deposit receipts and monetary data had been manipulated for private achieve. The loss from the rip-off is estimated to be Rs 2.09 crore.After the preliminary findings, an inquiry beneath Part 93 of the Gujarat Cooperative Societies Act was begun, with R B Jani appointed inquiry officer.Hingrajiya is believed to have perpetrated the embezzlement ever since he joined the society in 2009. He was booked beneath Indian Penal Code Sections 406 (legal breach of belief), 409 (legal breach of belief by public servant), 420 (dishonest) and numerous sections regarding forgery and falsification of accounts, and related sections of the Cooperative Societies Act.
