The Indian Area Analysis Organisation (ISRO) has carried out the testing of a sub-scale thrust chamber for LOX-Methane Engine which might be inducted within the subsequent era of launch automobiles.
The check was carried out on the Thrust Chamber Check facility at ISRO Propulsion Advanced (IPRC), Mahendragiri on January 27, 2026.
“The sub-scale thrust chamber and single aspect injector head have been efficiently examined to a chamber stress of 56 bar. The sub-scale thrust chamber and single aspect injector head have been realised by additive manufacturing. Ignition and flame sustenance contained in the thrust chamber have been achieved and efficiency of all techniques have been regular,” ISRO stated.
It added that the check article can be additional used to pick the optimum injector configuration by a sequence of additional scorching checks.
The house company stated that the event of the important engine subsystems is progressing on the Liquid Propulsion Methods Centre of ISRO and the testing of those subsystems at a smaller scale (sub-scale) has commenced.
“An optimally designed thrust chamber with injector head is vital to the success of any cryogenic engine. ISRO has efficiently carried out the primary scorching check of the excessive thrust LOX-Methane Engine at thrust chamber degree with a single aspect injector,” ISRO stated.
