Surat: Union civil aviation minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu will e-inaugurate several new passenger facilities at airports across the country on Friday, including at Surat International Airport, officials said.Naidu will virtually inaugurate facilities such as the Udan Yatri Cafe, Digi Yatra, a children’s play area, an Avsar outlet and modern WiFi services at Surat airport while attending an official programme at Coimbatore Airport.Surat Airport director Anand Narayan Sharma said five key passenger-centric facilities are being launched to enhance convenience, ease of travel and the overall passenger experience. “The Udan Yatri Cafe has been established to provide clean, nutritious and quality food and beverages to common passengers at affordable rates. This initiative is an important step towards making air travel more accessible and inclusive,” he said.Under the тАШOne Airport One Product’ initiative, the Avsar outlet will provide a platform for self-help groups to showcase and sell a special local product, helping encourage and empower grassroots enterprises, Sharma added.A formal launch of the Digi Yatra facility will also take place, enabling passengers to access the terminal through a quick, secure and paperless face-recognition system. In addition, a robust WiFi facility offering free and uninterrupted internet connectivity will be made available across the airport premises. “This will be particularly beneficial for business travellers, students and passengers dependent on digital services,” Sharma said. A dedicated children’s play area will also be opened at the airport to cater to families travelling with young children.
