The annual Brahmotsavams on the TTD-run Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy temple at Srinivasa Mangapuram commenced in a grand method on Sunday (February 08) with ‘Dhwajarohonam’ ritual, marking the hoisting of the sacred flag atop the temple flagpost.
The occasion was carried out as per Vaikhanasa Agama (doctrine of temple worship), whereby the flag was hoisted on the designated ‘Kumbha Lagnam’ between 8.15 a.m. and eight.35 a.m., thought of to be auspicious hours as per Hindu almanac.
Clergymen chanted hymns from the scriptures and the instrumentalists beat the normal drums, cymbals and wind pipe so as to add grandeur to the event, when the officiating priest (Kankana Bhattar) Balaji Rangacharyulu hoisted the flag. Devotees gathered across the Dhwaja Sthambham chanted ‘Govinda Govinda’.
Taking part in his maiden non secular occasion after taking up, TTD Government Officer M. Ravichandra defined the frilly preparations made for the sleek conduct of the occasion and the amenities being prolonged to the visiting devotees.
‘Garuda Seva’, thought of the magnum opus of the nine-day occasion, might be held in a grand method on February 12, adopted by golden chariot (February 13), Rathotsavam (February 15) and Chakra Snanam (February 16).
Joint Government Officer V. Veerabrahmam, Chief Vigilance & Safety Officer Ok.V. Muralikrishna, Particular Officer and Chief Public Relations Officer T. Ravi, Deputy Government Officer (Particular Grade) V. Varalakshmi and Assistant Government Officer M. Gopinath took half.
