Prayagraj: Bed capacity in the gynaecology and psychiatry departments of Swaroop Rani Nehru (SRN) Hospital is set to increase, with the state govt approving a budget of Rs 5.5 crore for expansion works. The move is expected to ease pressure on existing facilities and improve patient care.At present, psychiatric patients at the hospital are admitted to a night shelter due to a lack of dedicated ward space, causing inconvenience to both patients and attendants. To address this, a new 30-bed ward will be constructed above the existing psychiatry department at a cost of nearly Rs 3 crore. Officials said the new facility will provide better treatment conditions and a more structured environment for mental health patients.
