Victoria Mboko continued her week in Doha with a 6–3, 6–2 win over Jelena Ostapenko to achieve the ultimate of the Qatar Open.
At simply 19 years outdated, Mboko has reached her second WTA 1000 closing and her first closing in Doha, doing so on her event debut. She is the primary teenager to achieve the Doha closing since 2016, when Ostapenko herself achieved the feat.
She defeated Mirra Andreeva, Elena Rybakina, and Jelena Ostapenko in consecutive matches, plus two top-10 gamers and two Grand Slam champions. This end result will raise her into the highest 10 when the rankings replace on Monday.
After the match, Mboko spoke in regards to the second.
“It’s loopy. She was enjoying actually nice tennis from the beginning. I felt like I needed to step it up. I’m pleased to be right here within the closing. I wanna thank everybody who got here to assist. There’s lots of people. It’s much more every spherical.”
The Doha closing would be the fourth WTA closing of Mboko’s profession and her second of the 2026 season.
