Books Across America Map
Learn geography book by book. Students read books from or about each state and color in the states they’ve “traveled” to. A great way to track reading and record how many books students read that week or month.
We Are Teachers
Books Across America Recording Sheet
Students can record the books they read and rate each book. Use this book log in class by pairing students who read about the same state, or different states, to share their top-rated books and what they learned from each.
We Are Teachers
Books Across America Reading List
We’ve got a list of books to represent every state. Work with your school librarian to feature these books in your school or classroom library, read them aloud, or assign them via your online reading apps.
We Are Teachers
Daily and Weekly Reading Logs
Use these reading logs during and after Read Across America Week to capture all the pages students read. Once a week, record student reading by book or minutes and use the information to tally the mean, median, mode, range, and trends over time.
We Are Teachers
Read-and-Scratch Challenge
These sheets are a creative way to record reading. Students scratch off a circle for every challenge or 30 minutes they read to reveal a message underneath.
We Are Teachers
Bookmarks To Celebrate Reading
Print and laminate these bookmarks to pass out for rewards or encouragement during Read Across America Week.
We Are Teachers
Printable Reading Posters
Update your reading corner with these fun reading posters. Challenge students to create their own posters to add to the reading corner in the spirit of Read Across America Week.
We Are Teachers
Color-as-You-Go Reading Challenge
Students can check off the reading challenges they complete or color in the tasks they accomplish. Either way, they’ll be reading!
We Are Teachers
Reading Scavenger Hunt
Kick off Read Across America Week with a scavenger hunt. Can students find each item on the list in the library, classroom, or around the school?
We Are Teachers
Literary Genre Reading Log
Use this reading log during Read Across America Week to challenge students to read different types of books about your state or a state they are studying. For example, if you live in Massachusetts, can they find a historical novel set in the state? What about a mystery or graphic novel?
We Are Teachers
Book Bracket
Capture the energy of March Madness with a book bracket. Kids read each book and decide which one is better and then which book is the ultimate winner.
We Are Teachers

Use this reading log to capture students’ reading accomplishments and book ratings during March.
We Are Teachers
Rainbow Reading Printable
Have students read a book from each genre in the rainbow, record their choices, then color in the rainbow.
We Are Teachers
Reading Badges
For older students, have them earn badges during March by filling in a badge for each reading activity they do. Students can write about each badge they earn to create a unique book report.
We Are Teachers
Reading Shelf Book Log
This straightforward book log captures the books students read across a week or month. Assign students a theme or topic to read about, then challenge them to read as many books about that topic as they can.
We Are Teachers
Read 20 Minutes a Day Log
During Read Across America Week (or the entire month), have students fill in a book on this log for each day they read for 20 minutes. They can also record the titles they read. Collect student logs, put them into a basket, and pull one out for a special prize.
