Garbage piles up, water leaks persist in parts of Greater Noida ahead of Holi

Noida: With Holi around the corner, residents across Alpha, Beta and Delta sectors have flagged irregular garbage collection and water pipeline leakages, alleging inaction by the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA). Residents said uncollected household and construction and demolition (C&D) waste has been lying on sector roads for days. Pramod Bhati, RWA president of Delta 1, alleged that the authority’s public health department has failed to ensure regular lifting of garbage through its contractor. “Waste is left unattended for days and the collection process has become erratic,” he said, urging immediate corrective measures. RWA president of Habibpur near Ecotech 3, Ranveer Choudhary, said the area designated for Holika Dahan remains unclean. “With the festival approaching, sanitation arrangements are inadequate. The site and surrounding areas need urgent cleaning,” he said. Residents also reported water leakages at multiple locations. In Beta 1, Harinder Bhati, RWA general secretary, said a leak in the main Ganga water supply pipeline near Vishwas Bharti Public School (Gate No. 2) has persisted for 15 days despite repeated complaints. He warned of water wastage and possible soil erosion. Another leak has been reported near metro pillar No. 871A in front of Alpha 2 for over a week. Residents said the issue, coupled with a broken sewer pipe and roadside obstructions, has led to waterlogging and congestion. Complaints were also raised about unattended horticulture waste in green belts and roundabouts. GNIDA officials said the grievances would be addressed soon.
