Ballari: IPS officer Vartika Katiyar, who was transferred from the put up of deputy inspector common (DIG) following the conflict in Ballari on Jan 1, has discovered herself on the centre of a contemporary controversy after a video surfaced, purportedly exhibiting her threatening a lower-level official even after her switch. The video purportedly exhibits Katiyar chatting with Ballari zonal administrator Basavaraj and warning him to not hand over paperwork to the newly posted officer. The video has been extensively shared on social media. Katiyar allegedly warns Basavaraj: “The case of my switch is being heard by Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT). Within the meantime, should you give the recordsdata to anybody, additionally, you will be made a defendant in CAT.” Basavaraj is claimed to have recorded the dialog. Following the telephone name, Basavaraj wrote to Katiyar saying she was obstructing him from discharging his duties. “Subsequently, don’t name me or ship me letters or verbal directions,” he wrote. This purported letter, too, has been shared extensively on social media platforms. TOI tried to contact Basavaraj, however he didn’t reply calls or textual content messages. A conflict broke out in Ballari on Jan 1 between supporters of Congress MLA Bharath Reddy and BJP legislator G Janardhan Reddy over erecting banners. One individual died. Following the incident, Katiyar was transferred on Jan 7. Subsequently, she approached CAT, difficult her switch. The case continues to be being heard. In the meantime, allegations have surfaced that she is exerting strain on officers to not hand over recordsdata that have been below her cost to different officers.
