Mysuru: A minor earthquake, measuring 2.4 on the Richter Scale, was recorded final night at 5.13.13 within the Kolatturu Gram Panchayat limits of T. Narasipur taluk.

In keeping with the Karnataka State Pure Catastrophe Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), the epicentre was positioned at Kolatturu Gram Panchayat at coordinates 12.28° N latitude and 76.98° E longitude, with  a depth of 5 km.

The epicentre lay about 1.9 km south of Hanakola village in Sujjaluru Gram Panchayat of Malavalli taluk in Mandya district, 4 km southeast of Chidravalli Gram Panchayat in T. Narasipur taluk and round 38 km east of Mysuru metropolis.

Officers said that the tremor was low in depth and will have been felt inside a 20-30 km radius.

Nevertheless, there are not any reviews of structural injury or hurt to the local people.

The affected area falls beneath Seismic Zone II and tectonic maps point out no main geological faults within the space.

Authorities have reassured the general public that there isn’t a trigger for panic. “The tremor was too delicate to be seen by the group,” mentioned T. Narasipur Tahsildar Sureshachar.

Famous Geologist and retired Deputy Director-Common of the Geological Survey of India (GSI), Dr. H.S.M. Prakash, mentioned {that a} 2.4 magnitude quake is mostly delicate and doesn’t trigger injury                                                to buildings.

Nevertheless, he famous that such tremors might typically point out subsurface geological exercise. “If it’s a stray occasion, there isn’t a want to fret. However nothing occurs by likelihood; there have to be some subsurface motive for it,” he mentioned.
